History of the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association (WPTLA)

The group was originally established in the 1960's as the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and was a precursor to the formation of the statewide organization of PaTLA, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. In the 1970's it was identified as the Western Chapter of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, with members and funds being tied to PaTLA.

The organization once again became an independent entity when the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association (WPTLA) was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on June 19, 1992. The Organization Meeting of the Board of Governors was held on August 10, 1992. A quorum of the Board of Governors was present, and a resolution was unanimously approved for the election of officers, as follows;
